United States – Hunter Biden’s daughter said under oath on Friday that her father appeared to be amenable to treatment for his drug problem in the weeks prior to purchasing a firearm he is accused of having unauthorized by not disclosing his dependence.

Hunter Biden denied guilt in federal court and is accused of lying about his alcohol problem when applying for a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018 as well as illegal possession of the firearm for eleven days, as reported by Reuters.

Daughter’s Testimony Highlights Hunter Biden’s Struggle

His daughter Naomi Biden, 30, spoke at his criminal trial and said she visited him in California at that time, and he looked ‘really great.’

During cross-examination, Naomi Biden was shown that she had been calling and messaging her father but could not talk to him.

“I can’t take this,” she texted her father several days after he purchased the gun. “I miss you so much, and I just want to hang out.”

Prosecutors admitted prior testimony and evidence they said revealed that Hunter Biden was planning to purchase crack cocaine at the material time.

The last witness to testify on Friday was Naomi Biden.

The jury was sent out of the courtroom, and after a break, the defense will reveal whether they will have Hunter Biden, aged 54, testify. Testifying can be dangerous to the defendants because while giving his or her account of the case, the witness is liable to be cross-examined.

The jury in the 5-day-old first-ever criminal trial of a U. S. president’s child listened to the testimonies of several witnesses that included Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, former girlfriend, and sister-in-law who testifying about Hunter Biden’s crack cocaine addiction.

Speaking on Thursday, Hallie Biden said that she had found the firearm and disposed of it because this could potentially become a danger to either Hunter Biden or her kids.

According to the prosecutors, there was compelling evidence that Hunter Biden was engaged in crack use in the weeks before and after acquiring the firearm, and the lie was when he filled out the government screening document stating “no” every time he was asked if he was a drug user.

Defense’s Argument and Final Witnesses

In his defense, the defense attorney Abbe Lowell has requested the judge to acquit Biden stating that Biden did not set out to deceive because he did not consider himself to be an addict while he was buying a gun. During a 2023 hearing, Hunter Biden finally testified that he had not been drinking since the year 2019.

On the same Friday, earlier the prosecutors have given their complete evidence and Hunter Biden’s defense requested the judge on the case to dismiss the charges. His attorneys stated that the evidence provided was insufficient for a conviction.

Judge’s Decision Pending

U. S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika did not make an instantaneous ruling on the motion that is typically made by a defendant and which is typically rejected.

Lowell also lined up a company employee and the owner of the gun shop to try to create reasonable doubt about the completed background check form in this case, which is Naomi Biden.

The trial comes after another first – the criminal charges brought against the former head of state, Donald Trump, the first U. S. president to be indicted for a felony. Trump is currently the Republican candidate contesting with Joe Biden from the Democratic party in the November 5 poll.

Democrats have been accused by Trump and some Republicans in Congress of pursuing the case and three other criminal prosecutions to hinder Trump from reclaiming power in his match against the president, as reported by Reuters.

House Democrats have cited examples like the Hunter Biden case as evidence that Joe Biden is not exploiting the justice system for gain.

During an interview with ABC News on Thursday Biden said that he would not pardon Hunter if the latter were to be convicted.

The standard range of imprisonment for the charges leveled against Biden is 15-21 months; however, legal analysts indicate that similar offenders are released on bond and have their prison time reduced depending on their compliance with pretrial release conditions.
